Yesterday is gone, and today is here.
Tomorrow awaits you.

Like a chain through the years, gathering its links—
one by one,
day by day,
month by month,
year by year.

And you stop to count its links:
happy links,
sad links,
funny links,
joyful links.

There are some links you can’t remember
how they got there,
but they needed you

Some links you tried to let go,
but they held on tight
because they needed you.

Or you gathered the links
because you needed them.

No matter how it happened,
it created a bond
to teach,
